Republic Services, Inc. and Allied Waste Industries, Inc. announced on December 5, 2008, that they have completed their historic merger to create one of the nation’s leading waste and environmental services providers. The combined company has 35,000 employees serving more than 13 million customers in 40 states and Puerto Rico.
The combined company, which is based in Phoenix, is named Republic Services, Inc.
The company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “RSG.” As of the close of the market on December 5, 2008, Allied Waste is no longer traded on NYSE.
