Landfill Gas-to-Energy

The gas-to-energy project at Citizen Landfill in Grand Blanc, Michigan is the result of a Republic Services partnership that uses six engines to generate electricity from natural landfill gas.

In addition to creating electricity, the heat from the radiators and water jackets in these running engines is captured and used to heat the site’s entire heavy equipment shop during the winter. Tapping into this renewable energy resource reduces the demand on other energy sources.
