ADD MORE THAN 100 JOBS TO NORTHEAST PHOENIX

New Positions Added, Employees Relocate from Florida and Texas

PHOENIX – April 1, 2010 – Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE:RSG) has become a force in improving the job outlook for northeast Phoenix by moving its corporate headquarters to Phoenix Council District 2. The merger with Allied Waste in December 2008 has resulted in 136 additional people at the headquarters.

“The relocation of the corporate office was a business decision,” said Jim O’Connor, Republic Chairman and CEO. “We wanted to integrate functions and capture synergies from the merger and Phoenix offered what we needed.”

Prior to the merger with Allied Waste, 353 employees worked at the corporate headquarters building near Mayo Boulevard and Scottsdale Road. Currently, 502 people work at the facility.

In early 2009, employees from the pre-merger headquarters of Republic in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. transferred to the Phoenix headquarters. Beginning in April 2009, the national accounts team relocated employees to Phoenix from Houston to leverage support from existing functions at the corporate headquarters and to retain and effectively deploy top talent.
