The words of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., ring true as Americans remember the civil rights leader on the holiday marking his birthday – a national day of service.
Throughout history, there have been many influential people who have not only shared their own diverse ideas, but helped others see the difference they can make in the world. King was one of those people.
The call to service especially resonates in Memphis. That’s where King spoke out on behalf of striking sanitation workers and where he was tragically killed in 1968.

The group ended the day with a block party with the community.
General Manager Drew Boyer joined his team for the cleanup. “I’ve never been involved in anything of this magnitude in my career,” he said.
“We feel privileged to work alongside our employees, these families and other volunteers to help enhance this community,” Boyer added. “Through our partnership with Memphis Habitat, we believe we are helping to strengthen the neighborhoods we share in Memphis and throughout Shelby County.”
