Our Nutrient-Rich Compost

The Pacific Region Compost Facility helps keep yard and food waste out of the landfill by turning it into nutrient rich compost and closing the organic loop. Compost nourishes soil, promoting healthy plant growth while improving soil stability and water retention to help conserve water resources.

Our compost, which is US Composting Council (USCC) certified and Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) certified for use on organic farms, is available for purchase at Coffin Butte Landfill.

The Lifecycle of Organic Waste

From food and yard waste to nutrient-rich soil amendment, our compost keeps organic waste out of trash bins — and out of landfills. To learn more about the safety and composition of our compost, check out the resources below.

How to Buy Our Compost

Residential-Sized Loads

For loads of up to 5 yards, bring your empty pickup or trailer to Coffin Butte. Tell the scale house how much compost you want to buy and proceed to the public drop off area. One of our operators will meet you there and load the compost into your pickup or trailer.

Commercial and Larger-Scale Loads

For loads larger than 5 yards, call 541.801.2116 or fill out the contact form below. We will then coordinate delivery with you and answer any questions you might have.

About the Pacific Region Compost Facility

The Pacific Region Compost Facility was built in the early 1990s in the heart of the Willamette Valley, in north Benton County, Oregon. It is one of the largest composting facilities in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest and a member of the Oregon Farm Bureau and Oregon Seed Organization. Each year it transforms more than 100,000 tons of food, yard and garden waste into nutrient rich, OMRI and USCC STA tested and certified compost. We can fulfill customers’ needs no matter how big the request.

Our state-of-the-art facility turns organic material into nutrient-rich compost in less than 45 days. We use manual and automated sorting, screening, cleaning and composting techniques to remove contamination and ensure the highest quality compost. We do not accept any “bio-plastic” or “compostable” plastics in our facility. Click the button below to learn more about why we don’t allow "bio-plastic" or "compostable" plastic at the Pacific Region Compost Facility.

Our compost is created from local sources including commercial food and curbside residential pickup. Because our compost is made and sourced right here in our community, customers can feel good knowing that they are closing the organic loop with local compost ingredients.
