May 19, 2020 / Time to read: 5 minThe COVID-19 pandemic has been a difficult time for all of us but imagine being a child who needs to be hospitalized, or a healthcare worker putting in long hours for weeks on end. To spread some cheer and say thank you, the Republic Services Charitable Foundation sponsored the delivery of nearly 700 care packages to hospital workers and pediatric patients in Atlanta, Boston, Phoenix, Seattle and St. Louis.
The care packages for “Hospital Heroes” were provided to seven hospitals through a partnership with
Workers at Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center in Boston, Franciscan Children's Hospital in Boston, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Seattle Children’s Hospital received 350 “Hospital Heroes” tote bags filled with comfort items including a water tumbler, electrolyte powder packets, Epsom salt, snacks, tea, honey, and other comfort items.
The children’s care boxes containing a plush toy, crafts, activity books and games were delivered to 328 pediatric patients at Banner Thunderbird Children’s Medical Center in Glendale, AZ, Franciscan Children’s Hospital, Mercy Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta also shared thanks on behalf of its Emergency Department staff:
“The bags and items inside are of such quality and were very well received. It was great to watch the staff pick out a bag and get excited when they saw everything inside. It is clear a lot of love and thought went into these. It was a perfect treat to their day!”
From one essential service to another, Republic Services is proud to support our local hospitals and say thank you by delivering some cheer to frontline healthcare workers who are taking care of our communities as well as children who are facing illnesses during this challenging time.
