If your pickup day falls on one of these holidays, it will be delayed by one day. For example, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday. Service normally provided on Thursday will shift to Friday, and Friday will shift to Saturday.

Services
We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. When one of these three holidays falls on a weekday, collection service will be delayed one day. For example, on Thanksgiving, Thursday routes will run on Friday; Friday routes will run on Saturday.
Household refuse and recycling is collected ONCE per week, on Wednesdays, and must be placed curbside by 7:00am.
Brush and bulk materials placed curbside on Wednesdays by 7:00am will be collected by Republic Services within 72 hours (Saturday by 7:00am).
Please contain all refuse in closed plastic bags, whether or not a garbage can is used.
It is a violation of City Ordinance to place plastic bags on the curb earlier than Tuesday evening (5:00pm).

Recycling
Commonly accepted recyclables include: paper, plastic, cardboard, and aluminum. Glass acceptance varies by location and exceptions do exist, based on location so please contact your local provider for details.

Bulk, Brush, Appliances, Yard Waste
- If possible, loose brush should not exceed 4 feet in length, 6 inches in diameter, or 100 pounds.
- Large brush & bulk materials are collected with a special brush truck designed to be used for collecting cardboard boxes, furniture, and appliances (50Ib. weight limit).
Please Note: Federal laws prohibit the collection of refrigerator or freezer units unless certification is provided that a certified technician has removed CFC’s. (Check yellow pages under “Appliances-Repair & Service” to locate a certified technician.)
- Republic Services will not pick up construction materials such as sheetrock, tile, roofing, or earthen materials.
- Due to EPA restrictions, Republic Services will not pick up used tires; batteries; petroleum products; or containers of paint, herbicide, pesticides, or other hazardous chemicals and solvents.
Appliances may be disposed of curbside (1 per week).
Refrigerators and air conditioning units must have freon removed and tagged by a licensed professional.
Unlimited bundles, bags or personal containers of Yard Waste may be disposed of curbside on collection day (Wednesday).
Brush must be cut in 3' length and not exceed 50 lbs in weight.
Republic Services will pick up grass in bags or placed in containers.
Household Hazardous Waste
Please Note: Each spring and fall, the City of Benbrook provides a Household Hazardous Waste Collection day in which citizens can drop off hazardous items at a mobile unit at a designated site.
