From restaurants and grocery stores to schools, a variety of small businesses are receiving assistance, including:
- The
Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership (ANDP) provided critical support to two minority-owned restaurants, Marddy’s Kitchen and EDC Kitchen, in Atlanta, Georgia’s underserved Westside neighborhood. Marddy’s Kitchen provides multiple assets to the local community by connecting people to fresh food, learning opportunities and economic momentum. Focused on assisting entrepreneurs, EDC Kitchen is helping chefs organically scale their businesses via access to affordable, shared commercial kitchen facilities and retail space. Both businesses serve as connection hubs in the community.ANDP , a NeighborWorks affiliate, made needed repairs as well as ventilation improvements to help the two businesses operate safely amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Rebuilding Together St. Louis (RTSL) is completing a range of projects at several vital community organizations in St Louis, Mo., includingCity Greens Market ,Lift For Life Academy and the Wesley House Association. With help from RTSL, each organization received critical assistance, including funding for essential repairs and additional equipment that helped the organizations overcome pandemic-related challenges to serve their communities. Last spring,Lift For Life Academy – a local charter school – and the Wesley House Association, received funding for critical repairs. For the charter school, repairs included the installation of a new air conditioning system. And, in July, City Greens Market celebrated their new equipment with community members and local Republic leaders.- In Minneapolis, Minn.,
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity distributed funds to eight small businesses. The fund distribution empowered each business owner to make unique decisions about how to best utilize the support. One business,Sammy’s Avenue Eatery , used the funds to upgrade the restaurant’s online ordering system and implement a kitchen rental model while continuing to keep employees on staff. Supporting Sammy’s Avenue Eatery provided support to a business that gives back to its community and provides mentorship to other entrepreneurs.
Through our Committed to Serve initiative, we’re supporting the heart of local communities by helping small businesses that are committed to serving local neighborhoods.
