About the Northwest Valley Recycling & Transfer Facility
The facility serves residents and businesses in the cities of Peoria and Surprise and throughout Northwest Maricopa County. As a mid-point for the transfer of local municipal solid waste, recyclables, green waste and construction and demolition waste, material from local collection trucks is transferred to larger tractor trailers that deliver consolidated material to recycling centers or landfills. The Northwest Valley Recycling & Transfer site is a best-in-class facility, making use of mister systems for odor control, fencing to control debris and daily cleaning of the tipping floor.

Screening for Radiation
We screen every load of waste with an industrial RadComm Radiation Detection System, ensuring every load that enters the site is free from potential radioactive waste.
Screening for Electronic Waste
We remove all electronic and hazardous waste from the waste stream so it's not disposed of at a landfill.
Monitoring Continuously
Sophisticated safety equipment and trained personnel monitor all aspects of the facility and ensure only non-hazardous materials are disposed of.
What We Do
Collection
Homes and businesses generate recyclables and waste that need to be collected and hauled away. The farther they’re hauled, the more it costs municipalities and taxpayers.
Recycling & Landfill
Once transferred from small hauling vehicles into larger tractor trailers, recyclables and waste are hauled to recycling centers or landfills for final processing or disposal.
Transfer
Transfer stations aggregate waste collection by multiple collection agencies in a single place. By combining waste into one transfer truck, we have fewer vehicles on the road and reduce emissions. Transfer stations are a quick, temporary stop on the route to recycling or a landfill.
