We’re Simplifying Dumpster Overage Charges
We’re shifting from a per yard charge to a flat-rate charge per overage event.
How This Change Impacts You
Your dumpster size represents the volume of waste that we can safely collect and haul from your dumpster. An overage charge is only added to your invoice if your dumpster is overfilled. We previously charged overage by the yard. Moving forward, if you overfill your dumpster, your overage charge will be a flat rate amount per overfilled dumpster. While this new flat-rate charge is an attempt to approximate historical overage charges, you may now be charged more or less than in the past.

What is My New Flat Rate Overage Charge
Flat rate overage charges will vary by operating subsidiary. If you never overfill your dumpster, you will never receive an overage charge. If you overfill your dumpster, your new overage charge rate will appear on your invoice for that service. If you have any questions or concerns about this change to your account or would like to request your new flat-rate amount, please call Customer Service at 1.877.692.9729.
How to Avoid Overage Charges
Do not overfill your dumpster. If you regularly incur overage charges, you should contact your local Republic Services representative and request a review of your account for service optimization. Increasing your dumpster size or service frequency is the best way to avoid overage charges.

Why We're Making This Change
We are improving the safety of our drivers and communities by installing cameras on our trucks that will automate the detection and photographing of overfilled dumpsters. Rather than calculating extra yards on each occurrence, charging a flat rate for each overfill occurrence will also increase our operational and administrative efficiency, as well as your customer experience.
