Program Overview
The Republic Services SkillBridge Program provides military service members with a full-time, 3 to 6-month internship. During the program you will continue to receive your DOD full pay and benefits as you develop your skills in the environmental services sector by working as an intern for Republic Services. Gain valuable hands-on experience, training and mentorship, with the opportunity to grow a fulfilling career at one of our many locations nationwide. After completing the program, you will have the opportunity to apply for any open roles that interest you within Republic Services.

Which military service branches are eligible to participate in the Republic Services SkillBridge Program?
Military service members in all branches are eligible to participate. These branches include Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy and Space Force.
Is the program open to veterans who have already separated?
The Republic Services SkillBridge Program is only open to current active-duty military service members to apply. If you’ve already separated, please apply to any open Republic Services position that matches your skillset and career goals at
What is the process after submitting an application for the Republic Services SkillBridge Program?
Upon completion of an application for the Republic Services SkillBridge Program, a recruiter may contact you to conduct the initial candidate screen. Qualified applicants will be scheduled for interviews after the recruiter screening process. Upon selection, you’ll receive an offer to join the program. When you accept the offer and gain command approval, you can begin the Republic Services SkillBridge Program.
Am I required to work 40 hours a week in the Republic Services SkillBridge Program?
Yes, while members of the Republic Services SkillBridge Program are considered interns of Republic Services and not employees, the internship is structured similar to a full-time schedule, with a minimum of 32 hours a week and no more than 40 hours a week.
What happens after the 3 to 6-month Republic Services SkillBridge Program ends?
The goal of the 3 to 6-month Republic Services SkillBridge Program is to hire participants as permanent employees, depending on available full-time positions and performance capabilities. After you’ve completed the 3- to 6-month Republic Services SkillBridge Program, you’ll be evaluated and considered for full-time employment with Republic Services.
When can I apply to participate in the Republic Services SkillBridge Program?
Military service members are eligible to participate in Republic Services SkillBridge Program training 180 days prior to their retirement or separation date.
How does the SkillBridge program differ from the Career Skills Program (CSP)?
Both SkillBridge and the CSP refer to the same program offered in partnership with the Department of Defense. Eligible active-duty military members can participate in the program to receive civilian on-the-job training and develop their skills for permanent civilian employment upon leaving military service.
Does the SkillBridge Program qualify me as a Republic Services Employee?
Republic Services SkillBridge Program recipients are not employees for Republic Services and, therefore, are not eligible for Republic Services employee benefits or other employee incentives or programs.
