From our collection trucks to our training programs, it’s how we protect the everyday heroes behind the wheel and the neighborhoods where they live and work.
Rain or shine, at dawn and as the sun sets, they’re out there navigating tight corners, busy intersections and school zones to help keep our communities clean and safe.

Ahead of the Curve with Rigorous Driver Training
With more than 18,000 trucks on the road, Republic Services operates the fifth-largest vocational fleet in the U.S. And at the helm of each truck? The heroes of the roads and backbone of our company: our drivers.
They aren’t just experts in waste collection; they’re champions of safety, navigating real-world challenges every day. Mastery behind the wheel starts with our rigorous, full-scale

Shifting Innovation into Overdrive
One truck at a time, we’re redefining waste collection. It starts with our hyperfocus on the evolution of our collection trucks. We’re constantly exploring technology that will make our fleet smarter, safer and cleaner over time.
We’ve expanded features that enhance driver and public safety — including additional side windows for greater visibility, a wider rear light bar for better visibility to other drivers and automated residential routes to keep drivers out of harm’s way.
And even with all the aforementioned driver training under their belts, we know our collection superheroes can benefit from a sidekick. That’s why we introduced dual-facing camera technology to serve as an extra set of eyes. With the help of real-time alerts, these cameras (which face both the driver and the road) detect risks — like a pedestrian stepping into traffic or a bicycle hidden in a blind spot — so our drivers can respond quickly and safely. Additionally, these cameras reinforce driver safety practices.
We’ve also introduced electric vehicles (EVs) as part of our long-term commitment to sustainability and community safety. Our EV collection trucks operate more quietly and produce zero tailpipe emissions — helping the environment and the well-being of the neighborhoods we serve.
We’re scaling
